This is the story of Muktangan De-addiction Centre in Pune, narrated by its founder Anil Awachat. This book talks about the efforts taken by this institute to cure those with addiction and to enable them to lead a normal life again. Muktangan which has completed 25 years, is a path-breaking experiment which factored in the Indian social milieu while arriving at rehabilitation methods. It was a formula that presupposed the co-operation of the families of the affected patients. It placed the human being at the center of the treatment, thereby relying less on medical aid.
